Haltee screens every exchange for links to money laundering, terrorist financing and other illicit activity, and this policy sets out how. It supplements our Terms and forms part of the agreement you accept when you use the Platform.
1. Screening
We use AMLBot to screen both incoming and outgoing transactions. It analyses a wallet address and its transaction history and assigns a Risk Score from 0 to 100%, reflecting exposure to sanctioned entities, darknet markets, mixers and tumblers, known scam or fraud addresses, and stolen-funds or ransomware patterns. That score feeds directly into the decision below.
2. What the score decides
- 0–39% · Low
- Processed normally.
- 40–69% · Medium
- Held for manual review; basic identity verification may be requested.
- 70–84% · High
- Held; verification and a source-of-funds explanation are required before we proceed.
- 85–100% · Very high
- Rejected. Funds are returned under the terms in Section 5.
We may request verification or documentation at any score if a transaction shows a suspicious pattern our automated screening did not fully capture.
3. What we may ask for
To verify your identity: a government-issued ID, a selfie holding it, proof of address and, occasionally, a short video call.
To verify where funds came from: evidence such as a withdrawal record from another exchange, proof you control the sending wallet, a transaction history, or documentation of your income or employment. What we ask for is proportionate to the level of concern a transaction has raised.
4. How long it takes
- Automated screening
- Instant.
- Manual review
- Up to 24 hours.
- Responding to a document request
- You have 5 calendar days.
- Final decision
- Within 3 business days of your response.
If we do not hear back within that window, we cancel the order and return the funds under the terms below.
5. Funds we return
Where a return is due to an AML hold, we deduct a fee of no more than 5% of the amount, capped at the equivalent of USD 100. Only the network fee applies if you complete verification successfully, or if nothing confirms an illicit origin. We do not charge extra simply for having reviewed a high-risk transaction. An exchange connected to gambling is treated as high-risk on the same terms, with the 5% fee applying to its eventual return.
Where we hold funds because they are confirmed as linked to criminal activity, we work with law enforcement to return them to the party they were taken from, rather than to the sender.
6. Reducing risk in how funds move
- Every order gets a unique, one-time deposit address.
- Both the incoming and the outgoing address are screened before we act on them.
- Wallets we consolidate funds into are scanned on an ongoing basis.
- We do not knowingly process funds from a sanctioned or high-risk source.
7. Your consent
The order page carries a visible AML consent checkbox, and you can preview your own risk result before you submit an order. Placing an order confirms your consent to this policy.
8. Your data
Identity documents, transaction details and verification records are handled under our Privacy Policy, used only for compliance, and stored securely.
9. Changes to this policy
We may amend this policy; the date above shows when we last did.
